WAYNE'S DOG BLOG: Snowy Day

I had to use my cellphone to take this picture of Wayne today (my regular camera is not available at the moment) - I know his parents are out of town and I don't know if they'll check his website, but I thought I'd post a picture of Wayne frolicking in the snow - he LOVES to run in it - a little madman! Also, he likes to sleep under the covers next to me which I absolutely adore! He does tend to steal my pillow at times - or I'll walk out of the room and come back in and he'll have taken over my heating pad. What a little cutie!

FUN FACTS ABOUT MINIATURE BEAGLES!

*The Miniature Beagle, or "Pocket Beagle", is a smaller version of the Standard Beagle. The smaller Beagle originated in England. Used as a hunting dog, it could travel under shrubs, brush and bushes and was to hunt small animals such as rabbits. The name Old English Pocket Beagle originated because hunter would carry the dogs in their saddle bags. It is said that these original small-sized Beagles have become extinct, however, they have been recreated and are now being bred once again.

*The Miniature Beagle has brown or hazel eyes with a characteristic pleading expression.

*The Pocket Beagle is a gentle, sweet, lively and curious dog that loves everyone. They are sociable, brave, intelligent, calm and loving. Excellent with children and generally good with other dogs, but should not be trusted with non-canine pets unless they are socialized with cats and other household animals when they are young. The Pocket Beagle has a loud, baying cry that was a delight to hunting horsemen, but can be disturbing to family and neighbors.

NOTABLE POCKET BEAGLE OWNERS:

*Elizabeth I (1533-1603) kept packs of Pocket Beagles who stood only 9 inches tall. These small dogs were depicted in paintings as short-legged and pointy nosed. They were used for hunting, but quickly fell out of favor because they weren't very fast.
